Without Rules, there is only chaos and with chaos, comes destruction. I hope we can avoid that as much as possible but we all understand sometimes things happen. However, without these rules there would only be unfair actions and impossible situations, so please bare in mind. These rules not only cover what a member shouldn't do, but what content has certain limits and restrictions. The staff of the board will make sure to update the rules and alert the board when changes are made but it is the members job to read and understand them as written. While not a rule though please keep this in mind: This board follows the Three Strikes method. A warning can be considered a strike depending on the situation but one can only earn a Strike if rules are repeatedly broken or if someone continues to be hostile or combative. We enjoy leniency but there is a line to be drawn when things get serious.
[1]: First and foremost, though this is not a rule it is more of a guideline. Please read the boards content and lore before asking questions! We understand that there will be misunderstandings but please do not piggy back for everything. The content is written and posted on the board for everyone to read for a reason.
[2]: Respect all members and staff on the site. Past griefs and personal issues shall not be brought onto Silent Skies for the soul purpose of flaming or otherwise to cause chaos. If an issue arises, please PM the staff or make a feedback topic in the questions board. On that note, discrimination or targeting of any kind will not be tolerated and offenders will be removed for the safety of the board.
[3]: This is an English speaking board, native languages will be respected but please write all posts in English. Minor use of alternate languages in character actions is allowed but translations will be made to avoid any kind of indirect disrespect of any kind. Please write any and all character posts in 3rd person as well! The occasional 1st person post will come up once in a while but please, this can get confusing if one does not pay attention.
[1]: Members are allowed as many characters as they can handle but there will be times when the staff need to call out limits. Please do not make characters for the sake of trying to claim machines or tech, that's not fair. Character registrations are not conditioned on an account by account basis. If someone works best with multiple accounts, then do so.
[2]: All character graphics a recommended too be Animation based play-bys. To clarify, animation refers to anything from Anime, Game CG, Cartoon or otherwise non-Real Life type images.
[3]: Anyone can apply for customizations, this means even if you are a new member, the option is open to you. However, this does not mean you are entitled to said applications just because you apply for them. If the application is denied after the review process, do not try to push the app, it will just be denied again and MW applications will be revoked for a minimum of two weeks of OOC time.
[4]: Please pay attention to development lines. The Faction Leaders and moderators will be the ones making sure things fall into place, if a tech type is not present, then it needs to be developed. However, the leaders and mods have final say on how and when the tech levels are ready to jump. For an example, the Earth Union is using GMs and pretty soon early type transformation tech, after the GM came the Jegan not the Gustav Karl! Patience is a virtue in this case, please be fair and please give what is available a chance.
[5]: Do NOT mix plot armors and defenses. Things like Nano-laminate Armor from IBO and Phase Shift Armor from SEED would be way too over powered. If a customized machine has a good shield system, it doesn't need fancy armor below that other than what's developed as basic.
[1]: God-Modding is not tolerated for any reason and will result in action equal to the majority level of the situation. This means there is no infinite dodging, no indestructible defense and no automatic hitting. These types of actions are not fair, they ruin the fun of the story and cause serious issues for the member/player base. It is also very disrespectful.
[2]: No Meta-Gaming! This is no different from God-Modding but of course refers to how information works. If you as the player of a character read an opposing factions development threads, there is no way for your character in the game to know that information. Yes, the Diviner thing kind of borderlines this but random telepathy does not mean your character is a psychic. This will be watched a bit more closely with Diviner characters but please do not make this harder on the board.
[3]: Travel and Movement take time! This does not mean you can't try to pull off a stunt or two, it just means try to make sense of time. No you don't have to lower your personal word counts or match someone's posts, but any action that requires more time than possible will probably be intercepted. On that note, do not teleport across the setting of the thread. After just launching, it is not possible to open fire unless everyone has deployed so close that ship engagement gets dice-y too.
[4]: No Ganging up! There is a limit to how much someone can process even in an RPG. Situations for the character also become impossible when faced with too many opponents as well, so for that matter, Only 2 characters per player target. If the odds exceed a 2 to 1 ratio then it will be asked to clear out. There are plenty of opponents to fight with, so please pick someone who's open to such an engagement.
[5]: No grunt spamming! Taking out mass numbers of enemy pilots is not possible for one pilot alone, Diviner or not. Even more so, engaging a warship means your in the ships sight for AA fire and secondary guns firing back for a counter attack. A character WILL TAKE DAMAGE in warship encounters, so play smart, not strong.
