Technical and Historical Data:
Architect Incorporated constructed three prototype Mobile Suits known as the XMC-160 Nightwing as part of a reengineering project to create beam tech weapons. While Data collected on the AR-45 Nemo proved well in the development of such weapons, the design data was still centered around the MCU-061 CGUE for its high mobility and maneuverability. The design has been made completely original to avoid similarities between the production lines but shares plenty of design methods to allow the sharing of parts. The Nightwings main selling point though is its extremely high speed acceleration and when not moving as much, it is even more so, agile. This is made possible with the redesign of the engines and maneuvering jets that are laid out across the body, but as a result of that, the machine is still quite heavy compared to the MCU-060 GINN and MCU-061 CGUE. A major drawback to the high output of each engine also happens to be fuel consumption and for this, the Nightwing can mount four external Fuel Canisters that also act as supplement engines to avoid an acceleration drop, but can be detached when emptied of all fuel.
Introducing a new set of weapons for use with the XMC-160 Nightwing, the main body has a 200mm Proto-Beam Gun mounted in the torso. While not very powerful, it draws straight from the reactor and has a limit of 6 shots at full power or 10 at half, other wise, the reactor will be drained. Accompanied as a design taken from the Nemo's Beam Saber Data, the shoulders of the Nightwing mount three Spike's Each. While they can be used to impale enemy mobile suits, they can also activate short blade beams to increase their cutting power, useful for passing swipes too. Because of the new weapons, the Nightwing does not have any energy based weapons to equip where handheld gear is concerned, instead it mounts a special 105mm Heavy Rifle which works well for long range and medium range fighting. The Rifle itself can also mount a 128mm Smoothbore Launcher for anti-ship combat and crushing enemy mobile suits with a heavy weapon. The launcher can be used as an underslung mount for the Heavy Rifle but can also be handheld as an independent weapon.
